My husband and I both have doctoral degrees; he earned one degree and I earned two. But written correspondence from friends, family, and community organizations is almost invariably addressed to “Dr. and Mrs.”

someone can be madly in love with you and still not be ready. they can love you in a way you have never been loved and still not join you on the bridge. and whatever their reasons you must leave. because you never ever have to inspire anyone to meet you on the bridge. you never ever have to convince someone to do the work to be ready. there is more extraordinary love, more love that you have never seen, out here in this wide and wild universe. and there is the love that will be ready.

So now that Israelis have murdered a Palestinian child, does this mean that Palestinians can raid Israeli towns to find the perpetrators? Does it mean we can demolish their families’ homes? Does it mean we can rain hellfire on Tel Aviv?

Israeli forces raided the West Bank village of Beit Laqiya on Thursday night and shot Bahaa Samir Badir, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy, 3 times in the chest. Badir died 2 hours later at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah. Ma’an reports the boy was shot at “close range” and suffered from “severe bleeding”. Haaretz reported the unit’s commander “open fired” killing the boy.

The huge amount of pressure on young girls to let their boyfriends get away with everything and not to stand up for themselves, lest they stop being a ‘chill girlfriend’ and instead become a horrible, controlling harpy is such bullshit.

Stop teaching young girls that demanding to be treated with respect and courtesy makes them shrill, over-emotional, or unworthy of listening to.

I’m interested in the way in which the past affects the present and I think that if we understand a good deal more about history, we automatically understand a great more about contemporary life.

Feminist Theory would not exist had it not been for radical Black women (particularly Black Lesbians). Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Angela Davis, Barbara Smith, Kimberle Crenshaw, Flo Kennedy, Alice Walker, Patricia Hill Collins, Dorothy Roberts, Shirley Chisholm, etc. Never fucking forget that.
